Question:

Take honors, or get ahead?

My high school only has honors math classes through algebra II. I'm going to be a sophomore, and was considering taking precalculus next year. However, this wouldn't be an honors class.

I took algebra II online over the summer. However, this wasn't honors, either. If I were to take algebra II this year, it would be.

My question is, which looks better? Taking the honors class, or getting ahead?

  1. if you feel you understand alg2 well, you should move on to precal.

  2. Honors classes help improve your class rank/standing.

If thats what you care about take honors.

And most colleges like to see students challenge themselves.

For the most part precalculus is a bigger challenge than honors Algebra.

If you already know Algebra really well though, theres no reason you should take it again, just move on to precal.
