Take stills from camcorder footage?

My camcorder doesnt have the option to take still photographs, i was wondering, now ive got the footage on my pc, if there is any way to take still images from selected parts.

Generally speaking, most video editors will allow you to "capture a frame", but be warned: the picture will not be very good - especially if there is a lot of motion. This is because of the way the camcorder captures and (typically) plays back the video.

If there is no motion, then the frame grab should look fine - but don't expect to be able to make the image really big (and still look good).
