Men’s Doubles team Takeshi Kamura-Keigo Sonoda continued their successful run and locked the title by overpowering Hiroyuki Saeki-Ryota Taohata on Sunday, July 15, 2012.
This epic tussle was staged at Richmond Oval badminton arena and both Japanese pairs remained head-to-head for 54 minutes before placing final figures of 12-21, 21-16 and 21-19.
The twosome of Takeshi Kamura and Keigo Sonoda exhibited commendable fighting skills and finished this battle in favourable manner.
On the other hand, the opposing team thundered in the first part but they blundered in crucial moments of this exciting match.
Hiroyuki Saeki and Ryota Taohata forged fruitful chemistry in opening game and clinched first match point with a notable difference.
They dominated from the very first shot and maintained the upper hand until last shot was played.
They stunned their superior rivals with an intensive attack and placed a decent margin of 5-1. This initial lead helped them to finish the first half with a respectable total of 11-8.
After one-minute break, the opposing shuttlers Takeshi and Keigo made every effort to catch their competitors but they could not hit the mark.
They kept trailing behind through the second half and gave up this futile chase after reading an overwhelming score of 21-12.
However, they found their lost chemistry in very next game and managed to avoid a straight-set defeat.
This time they trod carefully in the beginning and then left the opposing team far behind with a giant leap in the end.
Though, they were just a nail ahead of their opponents until 5-4 but a couple of fruitful rallies took them to dominating position of 11-7.
Later part of the game saw Takeshi-Keigo in prime touch as they swiftly registered 15-9 and then made the best out of this advantage by putting up a decisive margin of 21-16.
The decider, as expected, was full of anticipation and both couples snapped at each other’s heels all the way to the final moments.
The twosome of Hiroyuki and Ryota were leading initially but they lost their grip after 7-3 and allowed their competitors to finish the first half with 11-10.
Though, they strived hard to reinstate their authority after the break but Takeshi and Keigo stamped them with concluding result of 21-19.
