Takeshi Kamura and Keigo Sonoda bag Men’s Doubles title at Osaka International Challenge 2012
Japan’s Takeshi Kamura and Keigo Sonoda delivered a stunning performance as they clinched Men’s Doubles title despite being underdogs in the Osaka International Challenge 2012 in Japan, on Sunday, April 8.
In the final battle, Takeshi and Keigo overpowered the higher ranked Gideon Markus Fernaldi and Agripinna Prima Rahmanto Putra of Indonesia after putting up a thrilling show.
The un-seeded Takeshi and Keigo cheered the home fans by playing inspiring badminton against defeated Gideon and Agripinna, who were second seeds in Men’s Doubles seeding of the event.
On the other hand, the second seeded Indonesians could not break the flow of their Japanese rivals and lost the contest in three games in 55 minutes.
The lower ranked Japanese shuttlers played remarkable badminton in the opening set of final contest as they did not let their higher ranked Indonesian rivals to take lead.
Takeshi and Keigo played with a wonderful spirit as they missed no chance to earn points by playing an attacking game. Until the break, they were ahead of their Indonesian opponents until the break.
After the break, Takeshi and Keigo continued their positive run in the game and remained successful in taking it with a wonderful margin of 21-17.
In the second game, the Indonesians played to their maximum potential but failed to get an advantage as they could not take lead until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the Japanese shuttler remained close to their rivals throughout the concluding phase and reached at 21-21. At this stage, Takeshi and Keigo executed a few wrong shots and lost the set with a margin of 21-23.
In the deciding set, Takeshi and Keigo showed their brilliance and dominate the pace without showing mercy to their opponents who also remained close until the break.
After the interval, Takeshi and Keigo remained successful in securing a reasonable lead. They played positive badminton in the ending points and took the set with a three-point advantage of 21-18.
Takeshi and Keigo grabbed the Men’s Doubles title by winning the final fight in 55 minutes with a 21-17, 21-23 and 21-18 score on the board.
