Takeshi Kamura and Keigo Sonoda wrap up Men’s Doubles title at Scottish International 2012
Japan’s in-form shuttlers Takeshi Kamura and Keigo Sonoda lived up to expectations as they displayed incredible skills on court and claimed Men’s Doubles title at Scottish International 2012, that ended on Sunday, November 25, in Glasgow.
In the final match, Takeshi and Keigo had to dig into their arsenal to get rid of their lower ranked team-mates Hiroyuki Saeki and Ryota Taohata who were the sixth seeded players in the tournaments.
The third seeded Takeshi and Keigo remained unbeaten throughout the tournament as they played with confidence and emerged as title winners in a convincing manner.
Takeshi and Keigo lost the opening game but they fought back and grabbed the following both games to register victory over their compatriots in three games with a reasonable total on the board.
In the meanwhile, the lower ranked Hiroyuki Saeki and Ryota Taohata showed impressive performance in the first game but failed to maintain good rhythm in the following sets and lost the match with a respectable margin in 49 minutes.
In the opening set, both sides played with aggression as they executed powerful smashes and strong pushes but failed to build gap on score board and remained close until the end of first half.
After the break, Takeshi and Keigo failed to play positive badminton as they executed negative shots and eventually lost the set with a five-point deficit of 16-21.
However, the higher ranked Japanese shuttlers showed their brilliance in the second game as they played with incredible speed and took a huge lead until the one-minute break.
In the concluding half, the lofty Takeshi and Keigo continued showing up their wonderful skills and they managed to bag the second set in a crushing manner with a 21-11 score on the board.
In the decider, both pairs entertained the local crowd with their aggressive play as they kept the pace of rallies high and stayed close in the first half.
After the interval, Takeshi and Keigo started to take charge of rallies by playing with precision at net and managed to secure the game with a reasonable difference of 21-17.
The in-form Takeshi and Keigo emerged as title winners in Scottish International as they finished up the final match in rubber sets with a 16-21, 21-11 and 21-17 score on the board.
