Question:

Taking AP Classes outside of school......

Well my high school only offers 2 AP Classes in the whole 4 years of high school. I think that is not alot and i was hoping that i could take a free AP class outside of highschool. is that possible, i am a freshman.....

  1. I haven't done it myself, but people at my school have done it, taking the exam at the end of the year when they offer it. Just make sure you register in October or sometime around there because that's a surefire way to know if you can take the exam (in May probably). Hope this helps!


  2. You can take the exam without taking the class, but you will have to study hard for it. A better option is to take community college classes. They count for college credit (as long as you take transferable ones) and will give you a head start in college. AP classes usually don't get you out of many classes in college.

    It won't be free, it will cost somewhere around $100 or so for the class (depending on how many units it is) and $100-$300 in books, depending on the subject. However, the AP test also costs money to take, and costs the same for books. I don't know if you can get it, but look into financial aid for the community college.
