Taking Algebra 1 as a sophomore, ?

Question

Due to a little circumstances, non involving failing, I am having to do Algebra 1 again, with all the freshman, and two or three other sophomores who have failed the course. I feel stupid for having to do this again. I went to a alternative school for freshman year, and they thought I should do pre-algebra again even though I passed Algebra 1 in 8th grade for C (I'm not very good in math). There is not much I can do for now, other than try to catch up. But I feel really frustrated having to do this again, what do you think of my situation? It sucks being in a class with mostly freshman.

This is weird lol. I took this SAME class last year and I passed it with a freaking A+!!!!!!!! And they made me take it AGAIN! For no absolute reason! When the year before I demanded to take Algebra 1B the next year (the class that is after 1A)

I am a sophomore and in my class there are so many freshman! And there are only about 3 other sophomores, but I don't know them. and only 1 junior. Just hang in there! And you will make friends, and plus the reason I got an A+ last year was because I didn't talk that much in class and I payed attention a lot...It payed off, cuz I aced it.

I feel you! I'm going to be junior and I have to take Alg 2/Trig again since I failed the 2nd semester! I took Algebra 1 in 8th grade, I passed. But I learned nothing! My teacher was never there! But he was super easy and I learned nothing in math! So, last year, my sophomore year. I felt really stupid because I didn't get anything in my Algebra 2 class. Passed first semester with a C. And I was one of the slowest. I barely passed with a C-! And I didn't get geometry cause I sucked at math. And keep in mind I'm chinese. People expect me to do super well in math...while I'm just blah.

my sister was a senior, but she had to take geometry in her senior year WITH THE FRESHMANS.. its not because of GRADE or w/e.

its simply because we came frm a different country...

sometimes, its not so bad being in a class w/ younger classmates.

you'll find yourself talking to them like real GOOD friends.

i guess your still going to have the feeling of being NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!

but seriously, there are reasons why you're in that class.

if being in that class is the BEST for you, then you shouldnt give a FUSS.

since you took algebra already, it shouldnt be a prob. for you RIGHT?.

so calm down. take a breath.

I think that were I in your place at your age I'd feel kind of rotten, too, but having the perspective of middle age, I see it as a very okay thing. Good for you for trying!! Unless you make a big deal about being a sophomore, no one else really cares. Oh, maybe they notice the first day, but then they're so worried about themselves they really don't care. You care so much it seems like everyone is focusing on the fact that you "should" be in a different class, but they're just trying to get their work done. I say good for you for keeping on trying.

i totally understand what you are talking about thought

im a sophmore too

and i took pre-algebra in the 7th and 8th grade

and then i took algebra 1 my freshman year

now im taking geometry

but i still understand

i know you will feel alittle akward at 1st

but then you just thik about it your going to know the freshman

and have a larger number of friends

just think about it

it will be better for you

and it is only for like 50 minutes a day
