Taking Calculus 3 (or higher) in Grade 12?

I am taking AP Calculus 3 (or possibly higher) in my 12 grade year.

Since many people in l know won't even be getting this far in college, they think that it's crazy for me to take so early.

I could care less what they think, and I'm taking the class anyways.

But my question is, do you think its crazy?

Answer truthfully, because I'm not gonna change my mind anyways lol.

  1. Do it. It's not crazy! If you can handle it-do it! Don't ever keep yourslef back!

  2. I am a junior in high school and I'm taking calculus now, but next year i plan on doing independent studies in a college level math so no its not crazy

  3. The only crazy thing would be making a decision based on what other people think.

We need more math experts.  Go for it!

    All the best.

  4. No, that's awesome!  Calculus wasn't even an option for us at my lame HS.  I assume you will be going on to college and majoring in a discipline that will use higher math such as science or engineering?  If so, having a longer experience and deeper knowledge of Calc than might even be required will just make those classes easier.  And getting the required math out of the way quicker will give you flexability in selecting you college classes.

  5. nope u r sane... just smart.

  6. It's not crazy. Hopefully, if you do well on the AP test then you won't have to take any calculus in college!

I think it's great, as long as you can handle it. Colleges like to see applicants that push themselves. And you will be better prepared for math, science, and engineering classes in college.

Realistically, the only people who need a third semester of calculus are math, engineering, computer science, and physics majors.
