Question:

Taking Pills?

I recently got a perscription for blood pressure medication that I have to take everyday. I dont know why but I have a very hard time swallowing them. I found that they are pretty easy to chew so that is what I have been doing for the last couple of days. My question is: Will it still work if I chew them rather then swallow them? Also, what are some easier ways to learn how to swallow them? I've tried everything. Thanks in advance!

  1. I would strongly not encourage chewing ANY medicine that hasn't been prescribed that way.  If it's a time release pill, you are defeating the purpose.

Try doing what I used to do with my children...Put it in a teaspoon of jelly.  As you swallow, toss your head backward, and It will slide right down.  Follow with a big drink of milk or whatever else you like to drink.

A tablespoon of chocolate syrup will do the job, too!  Same thing, when you swallow, and follow with a drink.
