My mom gave me some liquid allergy medication at 1pm today, turns out it expired in 1999. Will anything happen to me? I am not experiencing anything abnormal right now.

  1. DUDE YOU CAN DIE! go to thadoctors or you can even just call a doctor see what they say! dont forget to vote me for best answer!!!!!!!

  2. Most medicines don't become dangerous after they expire but they do lose effectiveness. If you and your mother are very concerned then you should call the poison control center in your area. They will be able to tell you if there is cause for concern.

  3. NOPE!  I guess this is just antihistamine or decongestant.

    It might not be effective.

But it would not hurt you.

If it's some kind of medication like Tetracycline (Antibiotic), it will harm you kidneys.

  4. It's a very common misconception that expired medicine is like expired food - bad for you.  The expiry date on medicine is simply when the medicine has lost enough of its potency to be useless for its intended purpose.

If it bothers you, ask a doctor.  They will be more than happy to listen to your concerns and give you clear advice and information on how the medicine works and the expiry date system.

  5. Usually, expired medicine means that the medicine will not work on you anymore (or less effectiveness).  It shouldn't do anything bad to you.

  6. No nothing bad will happen more than likely.  Most medications have an expiration date on them because they have to.  The FDA requires it and also it is partly a scam as well.  Some medications will lose their effectiveness but usually not.  They put very short expiration dates on many meds to keep people buying them.  By worrying about it you probably will get more sick from the stress.  From the medicine it is not likely it will do anything anyways.  Unless you are going into shock from the allergy the medicine you take for allergies won't help you all that much under expiration or over expiration.

  7. If you took one dose and feel normal, I really don't think you need to worry. You should probably go get some unexpired medicine if you actually want it to counteract your allergies though.

  8. No, you should be fine.  The expiration date is when the medicine loses 10% of it's effectiveness.  It doesn't become poison or something.

  9. no you should be fine

  10. no just make sure to drink a lot of water to pee it out

    hope i helped :]

  11. idk, but i dont think it will work proparly, buy some more medicen

  12. aging medecine can make it stronger, but i doubt you have anything to worry about with some allergy medication.

  13. wow. 1999 has long past. it's best if you check yourself at the doc. drinking expired medicine is not good.

  14. Nothing will happen to you,

It's more about...well the potency of the medicine isn't very good.

So your allergies may not go away today.

It's like taking liquid nothing, but it won't harm you.

  15. The medicine will work, and you will live.

  16. Unless it's an antibiotic, it should be fine.

  17. wat the.. . .=O
