  1. For the first week it is better to use condoms to allow the pill to settle down and in case you are sick or something. But in theory, yes you are.

  2. Yasmin combined oral contraceptive pill requires one whole month of use before it is safe to have s*x without a condom.

if you miss a pill, you then need to wait 7 days or use a different method of contraception (eg. condoms).

  3. it starts to protect as soon as you begin but you are still at risk for the first four weeks.

  4. my gyn told me with any birth control pill that you aren't fully protected until after the first full month of pills.

  5. It depends on when in your cycle you started taking yasmin.  If you start taking the pill within the first five days of your cycle (the first day of your period is day 1), you are protected IMMEDIATELY. If you start at any other point in your cycle, you are protected after seven days of active pills. According to Planned Parenthood:

"If you start the combination pill within five days after the start of your period, take the first active pill of the first pack. You will not need to use a back up method of birth control. You are protected against pregnancy immediately.

If you start the combination pill at any other time during your menstrual cycle, take the first active pill of the first pack. Use another method of birth control if you have vaginal intercourse during the first week of combination pill use — protection will begin after seven days."

So unless you started yasmin at the beginning of your cycle, you need to wait four more days to be protected.
