I took a laxitive to start a cleansing but only liquid is coming out. Does this sound ok? No real bowel movements but I haven't eaten much solid food in the last 3 days, does that make a difference?

For the laxative I took 32oz water and 2 tsp of sea salt and I drank smooth move tea.

thanks, please don't go on and on about diets and how unhealthy they are I am talking about a cleanse.

thanks so much!!

  1. The liquid is your bowel movement.  I imagine it's not coming out clear?

  2. Are you sure you're not taking a diuretic? Some of those pills and boxes and bottles look so much alike.

If it is actually a laxative, it sounds to me like you're not getting enough solid foods to counteract the laxative and make it to where you don't just end up with diarrhea and constipation. A laxative's main purpose is  to make everything smoother.

You need to eat grains to pack everything together. Nutritional breads - like Nature's Own Whole Wheat bread - are a good start.

If you're not eating enough solid foods, the few that have been digested may not have anything to grab onto on their way through your intestines and taking laxatives won't automatically flush you out if that's the case.

Try eating a decent meal. Grain/starch, veggie, and protein and taking the laxative shortly after. This will clean everything out.

Think about it this way - if the pipe in your sink is clogged and you just run water down it, a few strays of hair or soap or whatever may be washed away but what's stuck at the sides, what's built up, won't without something larger and thicker to push it out. Same goes for the intestines and bladder. You need something solid to pass through and collect everything that's been digested but is often too small to pass through on its own.

Once you've done that, then you can start your actual cleanse.

  3. I do the isagenix cleanse and even though I eat solid foods it's mostly liquid coming out. So this may just be how it is. Not completely sure though.

  4. Have you not been eating much? Maybe there's not enough food to come out? You had better be careful you're not dehydrated.
