  1. Have sailed Victory twice.  She is a beautiful ship..you'll love her.

One thing I can highly recommend in St. Thomas is the Paradise Point Skyride.  It is right across the pier from where the ship docks.  They take you by cable car to the highest point in St. Thomas and the view is spectacular.  THere are shops up there and a coupla nice little places to have a cold beer or beverage and a burger or something to eat.  The view alone is worth the trip.

Would be a nice thing to do first thing when you get off the ship or towards the end of your sightseeing to cool off.

  2. I can give you some pointer about the cruise itself.

Gratuity is automatically added on now to the final bill. When you board the ship take time to go by the Purser's Desk and ask them to take it off. You will save a considerable amount of money and you will be given envelopes to tip and distribute as you see fit. Dinning Room Attendants, Cabin Help, etc. I would much rather take enough cash to do that then have it distributed by the ship.

Excursion's are expensive and they only assure that the ship will not leave without you. That's it. Most of them are overcrowded and limited to what you can do for the time you are on the island. Most ports, once you walk off are there to explore how you see fit. There is plenty to choose from on each one and natives there ready to help you enjoy your time, just keep track of the time.

Get drink cards. You will have unlimited soft drinks. Keep tabs of the alcoholic drinks you consume, they add up fast and get very expensive.

Most of the time you can rent a taxi or scooter and explore the island yourself. It is a nice way to feel a part of the island without being made to feel like a sardine being transported on an excursion.

Have fun and soak in all you can.

  3. Go to CruiseCritic.com, click on "Boards" at the top of the page, then on "Ports of Call" for the ports you'll be visiting.

You're probably going to Nassau, San Juan and St. Thomas, maybe?  Those are pretty easy ports to do excursions on your own in, although if you are at all worried about that, then you should go with the ship's excursions.

The saying is that you should take fewer clothes and more money than you think you'll need!

On CC, also check out the "Carnival" board, the Carnival "Roll Call" board for the Victory and the "First Time Cruisers" board.  Lots of great info.

    Have fun!
