Taking a ferry from Seattle to Victoria..what to do?

We will be in Victoria for 8 hours...any suggestions as to what to do there for that short amount of time? Within walking distance from the harbor...

  1. Victoria is an Island,... not much to do other that the park and the beer gardens! EIGHT hours,.grrrrrrrrrrrr.. I sure hope u are taking gramma. People that enter  thru the ferry are usualy very bored after a few hours,...........TRUST ME !!! I did it !! Go to some of the other Islands like Whidbey (sp) or Vashon Is,. cool artsy craftsy people in Vashon


  2. All of downtown Victoria is within walking distance of the harbour. Try the Royal BC Museum, the Empress Hotel for tea, Rogers Chocolates for excellent chocolates, take a walk around James Bay and see the eclectic old houses. If you work the bus schedules right you would have time to get out to Butchart Gardens though it's a ways out. Craigdarroch Castle isn't far from downtown. If it's a sunny day, find a place to have lunch outdoors and just chill for a while. Beacon Hill Park is close to downtown too. I'm sure they'll have maps and brochures on the ferry.
