Filming a documentary on immigration. Crossing into Mex. with a trailer and my video equipment at Juarez/El Paso for 3 or 4 days then driving back into America At Nogales. (also need info if i went in and out the opposite ways.) also plan to spend 1 to 2 days in Tijuana either 3 weeks before or after that. What paper work and information is needed. Does anyone have a really good website or experience with something like this? Thank you.

  1. the media exaggerates.  yet i'm not saying its safe.  you will be going with expensive equipment so be careful, especially with a car that has US plates.

    passport

    drivers license

    registration of the vehicle.

owner of the vehicle must be present.

i believe it was $27 and they gave us a week permit.

Do that asap.  once you cross the border there should be somewhere you can get this.  I didn't know about this and we had driven nearly 100miles and paid maybe $20 in toll before we reached a check point and told us we had to return to the border and get our permits.  UGH frustrating!!!  The tolls roads are super duper clean including the surrounding desert.  Smooth and great road, but for a while all you see is desert like driving from outside of el paso to ft. stockton, you know?  but i still liked it.  there are lots of military check points.  they look your car over to see that everything is clear.  At first it was scary, i didn't expect it.  I thought they were going to find a way to take my money or cameras, cause you know i've always heard these exaggerated stories, but no they were really nice and just doing their jobs.

  2. If you cross at El Paso you will need to stop and claim your equipment.  You just need a state I.D. or passport for this.  When you leave Cd. Juarez going to Nogales you will have to stop at the checkpoint outside of the city and get your Tourist Card and Vehicle Permit...you will need your license and birth certificate or passport, vehicle title and registration, and proof of Mexican insurance on your vehicle.

  3. I agree with Jessy on what you'll need except they will never ask you for proof of Mexican insurance. However, make sure you have it as you can spend time in jail while they slowly work things out.

  4. Why not travel on the US side and skip the bad roads, tolls and other headaches

  5. You need to take out life insurance that's for sure.

You could  not pay me to go to Mexico again, I have been to Vera Cruz and  Mexico's west coast

    Praying for you
