Question:

Taking advantage of my son, please help!?

In my son's Special Ed class at the Junior High, there is a student assistant who has taken a liking to him. He comes home every day talking about her, and when I was dressing him, recently found a hickie on his lower stomach. He all of a sudden has started hugging people a lot, even slipping his hands up the back of people's t-shirts. I'm starting to wonder if this girl hasn't done something to him... I made it clear to him that he was only to have girlfriends that I approve of, but you know how boys are. What should I do?

  1. "I made it clear to him that he was only to have girlfriends that I approve of..."

Control issues? Or have you been watching Pumpkin? This reeks of insincerity - 21 in Jr. High? I don't care how mentally challenged your son is, they don't allow adults to attend school with children.

  2. why is it so hard for parents to blame their kids?

obviously its your son whose having the issue here, not the assistant.

  3. you need to talk to the girl (and maybe the teacher too) and have her back off. Normally at this time it would be OK, but this are different circumstances (no offense)

  4. Jr high what

  5. You should ask her if anything is going on between the two of them, and note that his recent behavior changes have made you wonder.  You should also ask him about it.  It is inappropriate for her to be involved with him.  If she denies it, but he says that it has been going on, you should contact the school administration.

  6. I have never heard of a 21 yo at a Jr High.

However, you only have supposition to go on.  But if you feel nervous, bring it up to the teacher.

  7. don't do anything. if he is 21? let him fall in love.... that's borderline psycho!

  8. NO WIRE HANGERS!!!

  9. did u make a typo and mean to say that he is 12?

  10. How is it that he is 21 in junior high? Something about your story doesn't make sense

  11. As a student assistant, I assume she has been given that position by the school and any type of contact of this nature with a student would be cause for immediate dismissal. I would bring it to the attention of the administration and try to make sure that she is made aware that you believe it happened at school without necessarily accusing her directly. If you only have a suspicion that it is her, you could be accusing an innocent person.

edit: Why do I get the feeling that I just got caught in a trolling expedition?...lol

  12. You are kidding? If yes, not funny! If no, get off the computer and get to that school now!

  13. let your husband take her out for a test drive to see if she's worthy of doing your son.

  14. beat her down

  15. I think all of this depends on his mental age.  You shouldn't be telling him "no" because he will only defy you more.  If she is of normal intelligence, and he is still has the mental age of a p*****n, it is outright abuse, and he has done nothing wrong.  It would be the same as a 19 year old guy from college becoming  student teacher at a junior high school and getting involved with a 13 year old girl.

Moral issues aside it is wrong to do professionally.  Why is someone who wants to be a special ed teacher getting involved with a student?  Sounds like predatory behavior to me.

He may be involved with one of the other students there, so don't jump to conclusions just yet.  I used to work as a direct care assistant for young men in group homes, and sometimes they just get crushes, and then have a sudden need to find a girlfriend.  But if you are sure it is her, I would call adult protective services.

  16. Tell her that girls are the Devil, like in that Waterboy movie.  That should take care of it.

  17. I would go to the school and discuss the problem with the teacher, and maybe the girl.

She's 19...its likely that she doesn't think she's doing anything wrong.

Nonetheless, make it clear that if it continues, you will pursue further action.
