Question:

Taking alcohol on to Princess Cruise?

Am going on Princess Cruise soon. Princess web site says passengers can bring wine on to the ship, but limits it to one bottle per person, and the corkage charge while dining is $15. My ticket/contract does not state a maximunm number of bottles, and the corkage is $10 at dining. Does anyone have any experiences with Princess Cruises when taking wine on board during initial boarding, and corkage during dining?

  1. I would call them to clarify.  Most of the time it is how ever many bottles of wine you can get in your luggage, but Liquor is not allowed.  The corkage fee is also normally $15, but like I said.  I would call them.  I am guessing what is on your tickets is more accurate than the website.  The most that they will do is hold the wine until the last day and give it back.  Liquor is the same way, they hold it until the end.

  2. i would call to be sure there is no maximum and to clarify the corkage amount. be sure before you show up with 9 bottles at $15 each. also, you can avoid the corkage if you don't surrender your bottle at the table. that fee is for serving you your own wine and storing it. i would check to see if you can bring your bottle and an opener to dinner with you and finish it that meal. they're already going to nickle and dime you to death.

  3. I was on the Caribbean Princess earlier this year and am going on the Crown in a few months. I openly carried on 6 bottles of wine. I believe their only restrictions regarding alcohol is hard liquor and beer. What my husband and I did was asked the bar for wine glasses, we had our own corkscrew (we brought in our checked luggage) and we would open the bottle in our stateroom, and go to dinner or a show with our glass of wine. Then you avoid the corkage fee.
