What do I need to know to be ready to take charge of finances in the case of husband passing away?

Information about anything else, ie social security,etc

would be very helpful. Thank you

  1. First off, does he have a will? That would be the first thing you need to know who's getting what.

    You need to start taking charge of finances right now. What you need is to tally all your joint assets and debt. You also need to know what your monthly expenses are. Do you have any retirement funds and how they are funded. Read books about finances when you are married and that should help you know all you need to do.


  2. first and foremost you need to know all the bills you owe and every account you two have together -- you did to know where the life insurance policy are as will as any other insurance policies!!! in fact if you do not do the monthly billing it might be a great ideal for you to handle it a few months so you know how to do it -- i know is my sister should pass away my brother in law would be completely lost!!!
