  1. Why go to Spain if you dont want to eat their food.Plenty of places to buy Bacon Sausage and Eggs in local shops in Spain

  2. Why bother going to Spain if you don't want to eat their food?  Have you tried their wonderful hams, chirizo etc?

You could stay at home and do self-catering there, eating food that you like.

You won't be able to take raw meat, as the only respondents have stated, but I'm sure you can find plenty in the local shops that is absolutely delicious (and probably a lot fresher than you'll get from a supermarket) if you'll just try.

  3. Although I think that you would be missing out on one of the joys of travel not to eat the food in and from the place you go to, can anyone quote me an official website that has the law or rule that actually says you cannot take uncooked foods - or anything else (dangerous goods and drugs excluded, obviously!) anywhere within the EU? The whole basis of what was called the Common Market is just that - there are no borders as far as free movement of goods are concerned.

Maybe this is another urban myth!

  4. Hi there,

It is a shame, you should try it!! I am spanish, so I think it is the first person I have heard of that is planning to go to Spain and not try the food..I do cook spanish food here and the ingredients are bought in Sainsbury´s ...

Went to spain myself on holiday and there were baked beans in Mercadona...Sure you can find sausages and pizzas and...

    Hope Ok.

  5. What area are you going to. All the places I have been to  have english shops eg. GB Stores, Beer Emporium and they all sell english food and many have butchers in them that do the english cuts of meat. Do try the pancetta though, it is like english streaky bacon.

  6. You can't take raw meat abroad. Period. In any case, by the time you get there (think - 2 hours at the airport here, 2 hours on the flight, 2 hours getting to your delightful apartment) the food would be rotten. Just eat bread, fruit, veg and cheese while you are away. You can surely do without meat for a while?

  7. Let me tell you in Spain we eat much better than in England.....anyway almost all the supermarkets here sell your "lovely food" for England, enjoy your fish and chips....

  8. cant take raw foods.. nothing wrong with spanish food in fact you can get anything in spanish supermarkets that you can get in uk.
