Taking household goods across the border to Mexico??

We may have to move to mexico. How can I find out about how much I would have to pay to take my household things across the border???

  1. It is very expensive to hire a moving company to move your things to Mexico.  You can look up international movers on the internet...there are many.  It is best to bring only absolute necessities and buy new furniture here...costs less than the moving bill.  If you are a Mexican citizen, you can bring things in, but an American citizen cannot unless he/she has an FM3 visa...cannot bring in houshold goods on a tourist visa.  If you are seriously going to move to Mexico, go to the nearest Mexican consulate and talk to them about all the details  (esp. if you are a Mexican citizen and he is American.)


  2. If you get an FM-3 visa, then you can move your household duty free.  Your expense will be in the moving company.  See the link below, which tells how one guy did the move.
