Question:

Taking melatonin at bedtime? How much to take?

I have been taking melatonin supplements at bedtime and they have been working for me. But recently I have been waking up super early, no matter the time I fall asleep and would like to get solid sleep tonight. Will taking 2 pills at 3mg each make any difference or will I just be wasting a pill?

  1. Don't take sleeping pills! It's better to suffer and try hard to sleep than wasting your health to facilitate the process.

  2. It all depends on you. I just need to take 1-2 mg if I'm going to take it and it does me fine. If you take 6 mg it'll help more than just one but I would try taking 4-5 mg first to see if that works. They always make me super groggy when I wake up but if you don't get than and 3 is not helping anymore it wouldn't hurt to try 6.

  3. Go to a MD  PLEASE.ASAP..about your Insomnia.and get investigated.

Any supplement, like Melatonin ,that induces sleep should be carefully controlled and monitored by an MD

    Please dont self "medicate."

If its  strong enough to induce sleep it IS a" mediaction." like effect that an MD can assist you with.
