Taking more ibuprofen than recommended in 24 hours?

So I have menstrual cramps usually for a couple days straight, and ibuprofen works fine for them, but if I'm taking 2 at a time every 4 or 5 hours (which is what it takes) I'm taking about 10 pills every 24 hours and on the bottle it says not more than 6 every 24 hours.

How big of a problem is this? Is there another painkiller I could alternate with or switch to?

Try Midol whether it's a headache or a backache, bloating

or cramps, you don't have to let your period stop you

from doing all the things you want to do.

That's fine.  I've had 6 at a time 3x a day prescribed to me before.  Long term use may cause ulcers.  But for the short term it's perfectly safe.  Have you tried Aleve?  This seems to work WAY better for me.

Start the pain relief the day before you expect your period - don't wait for the cramps.

Take alternate doses of ibuprophen and aspirin or other anti-inflammatory that is not ibuprophen ... don't exceed the dose, just take one, then the other.

For example, at 9AM you take ibu, at noon you take aspirin, at 3pm you take ibu ... like that.

You can take 800 Mg  3 times a day take with food so it doesn't upset or make your stomach bleed. Also do not lie down for at least 1/2 hour. Can cause ulcers and liver damage.

It's not likely to do any real damage to you. The recommendations on the bottle are a very conservative figure. I used to take way more than that at a time- while drinking alcohol (to prevent hangover)- and here I am years later, doing just fine.

Its really not that big of a deal. You could encounter so bad side effects if you take more then the recommended dose for an extended period of time but the worst that would happen if you took to many would be that you throw up but you'd have to take around 50 in order for that to happen.

I had really bad toothache last week, i was in so much pain i was mixing ibuprofen, parocetemel and asprin and had 10 in the space of about 16 hours,  didnt seem to do me any harm so im sure your'll be fine!!!
