Ok, so I will be going to my boyfriend's cottage next to the sea, and he said if I want I can take my cat with me. She is very attached to me and always follows me around. His place is 45 - 50 minutes from where we live. And I also have a carrier for her but she has never been in a moving car before. I am scared that when I let her loose there she will try to run away. She is an outdoor / indoor cat. Should I take her with me? Oh and I will be there for 3 days to a week.

  1. In my oppinin , I would leave your cat at home     dont chance losing her.

  2. Leave the cat at home.  You and the cat will be glad for it.

  3. i've taken my 2 cats on a two day drive to new york from florida-twice a year- (including a 1 night stay at a hotel which i had 2 smuggle them into) for at least 9 years. (not 2 the city, upstate) i suggest taking her (because she might hate u 4 leaving her afterword) and keeping her inside the whole time, so she doesnt run away.

good luck and have fun with your cat!

    ^-^

  4. dump your boyfriend and get a JOB!

  5. She'll be fine.  I rescued a kitten from a shelter 90 miles away and she did fine in the carrier for the drive home. If your cat has never been in a car before, have you never taken her to the vet?  If not, do that first. She needs to be spayed and have her shots. Don't let her out at the cottage.

  6. if she is use to her carrier there should be no problem...but just incase check her demeanor when you get to where ever your going, and if she seems calmed and relaxed then let her out, if she stressed then leave her in her carrier with the door open and try patting her and talking to her when she is calmed down abit take her out and give her cuddles and make her feel safe. thats the best advice i can apart from using something like feliway or sedapet on her (light seditives you can get from the vet clinics in NZ)
