Taking my dog on the plane with me can i buy another seat for him?

I'm taking a trip from nyc to san fran and will be bringing my 10 yr old mini poodle with me. he has never been on a plane before and needs to be around me always. I refuse to put him in the cargo so i wanted to know if i could buy the seat next to me for him????? has anyone ever done or tried to do this before.

Check with your airlines on flying the dog in cabin with you.  If the dog is small enough to fit in a kennel under your seat, some will let you do that.  the charge you but it is better than cargo.  

They will not let you buy the seat next to you for the dog.

It depends on the airline you chose. A majority of airlines will not let you carry your dog on.

Some airlines will allow you to put a very small dog in a mesh sided carrier if it will fit under the seat in front of you. As far as buying a seat specifically for the dog, I have never seen an airline do that.

The dog would have to be in a container of some kind in order to fly. It cannot be out of its container while onboard the aircraft at any time.

You can take him on board in a carrier, if it will fit under the seat in front of you.  You cannot take him out of the carrier though, so if he is going to whine and bark and have a fit, seriously consider putting him in cargo.  I have traveled with dogs several times, and they went into the cargo area.  I felt kind of bad, but it worked out great each time.  None of my dogs (all flew by themselves) ever looked stressed out or scared.  You can get an anti-anxiety for your pet to take pre-flight if you really think he needs one.

No, He probably has to be in a cage that can fit under you seat, which probably means he can not weigh anymore than 25 pounds.

No, you cannot buy your dog a seat.

You will have to find an airline that will allow you to take him as carry-on.  Not all airlines allow pets as carry-on.  Make these arrangements ahead of time, as many flights only allow so many pets in-cabin per flight.

You will need an airline-approved carrier that fits the carry-on standards.  The crate will have to fit under the seat in front of you.  The dog will remain in the crate during the flight.  You will also need a health certificate from your vet, signed more than 30 days before the flight.  There is ussually also a fee for flying a pet, check with the airline regarding their rules, regulations and fees.

Just fly private, if you pay them enough they will give your dog as many seat as it needs.

I'd offer you a seat on my Lear but it's in the shop having a PS3 fitted.

Your dog must go to the vet for a check up first like my cat and your dog might need some shots. Then I think you get a pet carrier for your dog and put it under your seat contact your local airline not all let you do this I think ares was American Airlines.

I'm pretty sure that they are not gonna let you take your dog on the plane with you.  Your only option is to put him in cargo or leave him at home.
