I will be taking my pet parrot to my caravan in France each year. Does anyone take a pet bird to Europe on holiday and is there any advice they could share?

  1. If you are coming from out of country check the quarantine for animals entering the country with customs.  Some animals have to sit in quarantine for six weeks or longer.

  2. Unless your parrot has a passport.....no seriously, you can get a passport to say that your parrot has had all the necessary injections and has been inoculated against all the necessary diseases, then you will not be allowed to bring the bird back into the country without six months quarantine.

  3. You aren't clear on whether you are a French citizen or resident. Are you taking the bird from another country? If so, you should find someone near your home to care for your bird while you are gone.

  4. I've heard the problem is not getting the bird into another country but getting the bird BACK into the US. Be sure to check if you'll be able to get him home...
