Taking notes on mac?

I want to buy a laptop for school.

I cant decide between the XPS 1330 and a macbook. The laptop is going to be used for school and taking notes. If i was to buy the XPS, it comes with vista in which i can use onenote. I see that mac's dont have onenote and dont really have a good alternative. If i dont find a good note taking app for mac, whats the point of buying one? I looked at evernote but i dont know if it's any good. People with macs, what app do you use to take notes on your mac?

  1. Is there some feature you're looking for that isn't offered in your run of the mill word processor/text editor?

I use evernote all the time. It's great for keeping notes about every little thing in my life. But when I take notes in meetings at work I just type em up in Word. Well, usually InDesign because I just despise Word, but I don't use anything but normal formatting options as I would if I cared to use Word.

  2. Go for the Mac...

You can use iWork '08 (Apple Suite) or Microsoft Office with Word.

Just put bullets in if you want.  You could also use Apple Mail's notes feature for short notes.

The thing is Macs will last you all 4 years in College and I can almost guarantee they won't break down.

Macs come preloaded with amazing applications and are very user friendly with Mac OS X, Windows Vista just plain sucks (and yes I have used both).  Plus the Macs have built in webcams.

PS: If you need to you can also Vista or XP on a Mac

Hope this helps, extra questions just e-mail me.
