  1. You can take it out and use it right away. It will make it louder but not significantly faster. Keep in mind most police do not like the sound of mufflers without baffles and will probably act accordingly. Jetting or rejetting is  a term for the part in your carb that lets the fuel go through it. It has a certain sized hole for the fuel flow. By rejetting it, you can  increase the size or decrease the size of the hole with a different jet. So in other words you can increase the flow of fuel or decrease the flow of fuel with your jet. Jetting is fairly technical and if you are not prepared to buy a few pistons once in awhile , you should probably not be attempting rejetting. One way to find out if you need to rejet is to check your spark plug before you take the baffles out. Then take your bafles out and run it a little and then check your plug again. If your plug is a whiter or lighter grey , you need to put them back in(too lean and is prone to blowing up). If it is a medium to lighter brown , it should be ok (the darker it is the richer or more fuel it is getting). I would not recommend riding more than a couple of hours on one that you don't know what you are doing . Take them out, make a few passes and enjoy it and then put em back in and save the mechanic some work.

    Good Luck!!!!

  2. you do not have to jet it. just take the baffle out.

It will make your bike illegal to ride like in an orv park, or bike trail.

you only have to re-jet it if you buy a whole new exhaust

  3. You don't have to re-jet the carburetor if you remove the baffle, but to get the most performance you should do the Honda power up kit. Ask your Honda dealer about it or go to www.thumpertalk.com and search for "power up kit". It basically just involves changing the jets and needle, removing the baffle and removing a piece from the top of the air box, no cutting required just pull it off from under the seat.
