My son is 21 months old and loves to take showers. It is convienent to throw him in the shower with me when I get in. That way I know where he is and dont have to worry about leaving him to run around while I am in the shower. Also this way I dont have to take a 5 minute shower and can actually enjoy my shower without having to rush. My question is... what is the acceptable age to be taking showers with mommy and what is the cut off?

  1. I'd say the cut off year is 3. Before the age of 3 children have 'infantile amnesia' which means that children do not remember anything before that age. Until then continue to enjoy your showers along with your toddler.

  2. 6 or 7 is a good age to stop.  my 8 yr old still likes them on occasion and it saves water.  don't forget to add dad to the shower for family time.  it's nice not to have everything in our lives sexualized.

  3. When my family camped, we would use the showers together My son was 5 and my daughter 10 at the time. We never made a big deal out of nudity in our house. My children are both grown and healthy individuals physically and mentally. I don't see a problem showering with him for a few more years yet. He will need to be aware of modesty before he starts school so he doesn't do anything inappropriate.

Nudity does not nor should it equate to sexual behavior. Many women bare their b*****s in public in many cultures and it is accepted. Nudists not only have their families unclothed but have activities with other families also. It is accepted and not equated with s*x. These people are thought to have a greater degree of mental health than the rest of the population.

  4. I would say he's getting to old- I stop letting my son in the shower w/ me when he turned 2!

  5. I don't the that he is too old at all, I would say around the time a child starts school would be too old maybe about 4.

  6. I would say by age 2, that is when they start to "notice" the difference between you and them

  7. My wife has worked in the child abuse prevention industry for more than 10 years and told me that the cutoff age is 5-6.  Stopping earlier than that is more than acceptable though.

  8. I honestly dont know. I know my mom had my sister and I shower together untill i was like 14 and she was 7. Then it was weird so we stopped.

  9. I know excalty what you mean lol. I'd say about 3. My son is

3 1/2 and I'll still throw him in there with me if I am in a hurry to get all of us ready. He has never questioned any of our differences yet but I'm sure it wont be long before he does. So I'm starting not to do it anymore.

  10. yep go for it.. its ur child

  11. hmm, this is a good question, my son is about 11 months, and i do this all the time. i dont really know waht the cutoff age would be, i guess when he starts asking about body parts of yours etc...

or when you stop feeling comfortable.

i have two daughters already, and i shower with them still, they are 6 and 3....

  12. He may start asking questions after awhile when he starts to talk. If he wants to, let him.
