  1. I'd say Ambien or Seroquil or Trazodone.  I started taking Trazodone at 15.  If you want something safer, try Tylenol PM's.

"When is it a good idea for an adolescent to take a sleeping pill? There is reason to suppose the answer may be never.

No prescription sleep aids are approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use in people under 18, largely because they have not been well studied in children.

But children do take sleeping pills.

In 2004, more than 180,000 people under age 20 in the United States - most of them 10 or older took sleep medications, according to estimates released last month by Medco Health Solutions, a large managed-care company.

Sleep specialists say newer sleeping pills like Sonata, Ambien and Lunesta may in some cases be better choices for adolescents because they act more narrowly on areas of the brain that regulate sleep.

Studies in adults suggest that such new generation medications are not as habit-forming as older sleeping pills can be. And because the newer pills stay active for a shorter time, they are less likely to make people feel dizzy, groggy or hung over the next morning.

"Ambien is a Category B drug for pregnancy," Dr. Emsellem said, referring to a class of drugs that is thought to pose no risk to a developing fetus. "No wonder doctors think it might be safe for teenagers."

Because teenagers are more likely to have trouble falling asleep than staying asleep all night, shorter-acting drugs, like Sonata and Ambien, may be more appropriate for them than Lunesta, which is longer-lasting, the specialists say."

Last but not least, consult a doctor BEFORE doing anything.

  2. If you're having troubles falling asleep it may be because your body isn't producing enough Melatonin. You can find it in the pharmacy and it doesn't require a prescription. Make sure you get the kind with peppermint flavouring though, it tastes pretty gross otherwise. I'd also recommend that you consult your doctor though before you start taking it.

  3. i dont know, i would ask your doctor b/c of how young you are
