Question:

Taking steps to improve my teeth. Tips?

I've having four cavities filled soon (so much for a 20 year cavity-free streak) and a handful of my teeth have chalky white spots (decalcification).

As of now I brush, rinse and floss. Clearly it's not enough, so here's what I have resolved to doing:

- Bye bye soda (at least for some time): I know soda is the biggest culprit here. If I must drink it, I will use a straw.

-Trident gum: I know it has that special sugar that starves bacteria that rot my teeth, so I'll be chewing that a lot (to get my mind off of soda).

- Fluoride rinse: Strengthen my teeth.

Any other suggestions? Also, out of curiosity, will I notice any differences within a month? I plan to do a before and after picture thing for the heck of it. Thanks!

  1. Brushing the correct way twice daily, gargling your mouth after every meal, massaging your gums with a wet finger in circular motions after brushing, brush your teeth after you have had any kind of sticky food, eat a healthy diet rich with calcium and vitamin C, use a flouridated tooth paste, visit your dentist every six months and get a cleaning of your teeth done at the dental office regardless of wether you have any problems or not. You will notice many differences forever ! :) Take care.

  2. i would say that you should just remember to be consistant with your brushing flossing and rinsing, and remember to brush for at least 2 minutes, at least 2 times a day. also, maybe try to stay away from lollipops, and other sugary candies as much as possible.

    good luck!! :-)
