Question:

Taking the Compass test in a few days.. (HELP)?

Hey guys,

I will be taking the Compass Placement test (all 3) on the tuesday coming up. I am very nervous right now because I don't want to be in any remedial classes my freshman year at my local community college. I scored a 550 on my math SAT's and a 470 on my verbal. However, I missed the verbal cut off by 10 points so I can't exempt this portion. Are these tests easier than the SAT's? How difficult is it to get placed in regular college classes without remedial help?

If I do get placed into remedial classes, how would I go about transferring to a bigger university? Will I be able to get out of these classes in a semester? I really want to transfer to Georgia Tech but with remedial classes, it doesn't seem possible because they are a very tough school.

Please help,

Thank You.

  1. Ok the test you are about to take is a test they make you take when entering a community college.  if you dont take it they put you in the lowest class there is.  I suggest getting a goodnight sleep before taking it.  Dont bring nothing that could affect your concentration like headsets  Eat a good breakfast and dont be nervous.  Just think of the test as a knowlege finder.  You could impress yourself.

They wanna see where your learning strengths and weaknesses are.  Everyone has them so dont worry.  My strengths are General Knowlege and Math.  My weakness is english and vocabulary

  2. It's pretty easy.  I graduated from high school 12 years ago, and took the COMPASS yesterday.  I passed everything with flying colors.  The hardest part for me was the math.  Study functions.  I was so worried about it because it's been so long since I have been in school, but I scored in the top bracket on each section.  You would have to do very poorly to be placed in remedial classes, and with the SAT scores you mentioned I think you will do fine.
