My sister and I, plus our kids and husband, went away to a beach house we rented. she refused to accept half of the bill, and only let me pay her about 1/4 of it. We are still trying to get her the money. She called and asked if I could watch her kids while she goes to visit her husband who is on a 4 week bussiness trip (only left less then 2 weeks ago). The kids are staying with me ofr 5 nights (6 days) and I plan on having a fun "class trip" each day. I mean like getting right up and going somewhere fun. Then eating lunch (either away or home), taking a nap/rest, then swimming or playing outside the remainder of the day. I know everyone is reading this and going yea right, and I am too, but hey, I can dream right? WHat are some good ideas for places to take the kids?

  1. putt-putt

    movies

    arcade

    go-karts

    water park

  2. zoo, art musuem, factory tour(my kids loved the john deere factory in waterloo iowa, we go once a year with my grandparents), our local campus has an ice cream shop that you can see how they make it and then the group makes up a flavor together and eats it at the end of the tour, the fair, sea world, even going for a walk on the bike trail can be fun with a little scavanger hunt for a certain color flower, certain shape leaf(with 5 points etc), seeing an animal, pine cones, seed pods. just have a good time

  3. my children enjoy walks picnics and really enjoy crabbing. for different education the science museum and even art galleries

  4. depends. you want to save your money for your own kids choose cash free things. have a backyard picnic.go to the park, go in the woods and hike, go to the animal shelter and pet some animals. go to the zoo, thats usually cheap. go to wal-mart get some paints and crafty stuff and play out on the picnic table. movie and popcorn at home, let them pick the movie from the video store.-buy $1 water guns and live it up. check your local libray & park district. ours shows $25cent movies on mondays at 7pm with 10cent popcorn (park district) they also have story time for different ages and make it take it at the library.

    involving money??

mini-golf, museums, go carts, build-a -bear, your local pottery shop, about $10 to paint and fire it then you pick it up in a week.the movie theater. arcade. bowling. swimming pool in your area. i personally would choose the money free-make sure before you go to set rules. "we are going to the zoo-but no t shirts." i know around here it would cost my family (3 kids) about $50 just to go to the movies, with i bucket of refillable pocorn. let alone the mini-golf for $6.00 a game, per person.

make sure you keep the age in mind also- 2-5 years old will get cranky half way through more than likely. they get bored quick. you might have to end up leaving early and that will waste your money.

  5. You could go to the zoo, an aquarium, an amusement park, go see a movie, or visit a botanical garden. I don't know where you live, but near me is a pottery place where you choose a piece and paint it, then you get to keep it. That's always fun. You could also go to a museum, like an art museum, science museum, or a museum of natural history (those are always so much fun!). Also near me is "The Science Place." They usually have fun experiments and things like that for kids to interact with hands-on science.

Also, you could go to an Omni theatre or to an Imax 3-D movie.

    Hope this helped! Have fun!

Also, if the kids are younger, you may want to skip the trip one day so that they don't get exhausted and cranky, but just play it by ear!

  6. We don't know the ages of the kids or what's available in your area, so can't be specific.

Call the local parks dept. and get info on their schedules and suggestions.

  7. I don't know where you live but almost every city has a zoo or a aquarium. my daughter loves those places. we live in Boston and she even enjoys the children musem and the science musem. the beach or just a park is good.

  8. Zoo

    Aqaurium

    Children's Musuem

    Mini Golf

    Waterpark

    Bowling

    Nature Walk

    Park

    Backyard Waterpark

Art Studio (there may be one near you where you can go in for a one day kid's art class)

    Backyard Art Studio

    Pottery Studio

Kid Cooking Class (they may or may not have one near you)

The Backyard Waterpark could last one day or more! Get a Slip N' Slide, a pool, some water guns, and other water toys. Also have snacks out and then eat lunch outside. This would be good for little kids, since they can go in and nap if they need to.

For backyard art studio, buy art supplies and set them up around the yard. They could do finger painting, splatter paint, etc.
