i haven't ran since track ended, which was may 23..cross country practice starts june 9... i was wondering will it really affect me if i haven't ran for over 2 weeks? ...as in losing everything i gained (leg muscle) from track?

i was thinking about going back out and running on my own because my legs feel good/rested now that track is done but i've been to lazy to go out and run alone..

  1. You begin to lose muscle tone after 3 days of inactivity.

Cardiovascularly you are probably alright (not perfect as you were, but alright).

It will take some time to get back to your muscular capability though.

  2. you might feel a little rusty when you first start running again, but it won't take long to get right back where you left off. . . Its a good thing to take some time off between seasons, that way you let your legs rest for a bit. . . And also your mind. . . because you don't want to get burned out, or that could mess up the rest of your carrier. . . As a freshman in high school i ran 9:13 for the 3000, and 4:11 for the 1500. . . I felt so much pressure from everyone in my school, and i didn't want to let anyone down. ..  So I ran like a madman my freshman summer, But i was no longer doing it for my self. . . I burned out mentally, and I ended up quiting my junior year because i no longer enjoyed it. . . so just have fun, and make sure you take time off! ! !
