i'm a 23 year old guy, and I'd like to get started with Golf. Haven't played before, but people have said I should try it out. I'm 6/3, about 180. Any tips for starting out? How much should i spend on clubs? And what can I expect as a beginner? Thanks!

  1. well ...when i started i just started with one club which was a

6 iron ( doesn't have to be) and after a got my consistent golf swing which took about a year (which was worth it) then i  bought my other clubs after that

because once you got a swing you can use ALMOST all of the clubs (not all of of them some take more practice)

and one thing you can expect as a beginner is that if you enjoy the game at the start and you want to learn more and get a decent golf swing then trust me you gonna have to work hard!!

(if you want it that bad)  =P

( which means like taking lessons once a week or more and practicing in between)  but thats fine because if you do work hard at it you WILL be rewarded at the end

  2. May I suggest that you go to a local golf pro and take a couple of basic lessons to see if you have some talent for the sport and well as a liking for it. If you find that you do, then you can seriously consider being more involved. That is when you will be thinking of purchasing clubs. You pro should fit you with the clubs which will  accomodate your physical features, your swing plane, swing speed, strength etc. I would suggest more lessons so that you are exposed to more features of the game prior to the purchase of clubs.

  3. well you have to like golf to play it or you ll be wasting your money.. it takes a while to learn so you have to have patience..

start off with a beginner set and then see what you like when you get better

  4. try these free lessons and instructions, good luck

  5. see here for more info

  6. well for clubs by cheap but durable so go to a like used golf club store they have great starter kits for a great price and wht to expect a pretty fee for playing and you might be a Lil sore but golf is a great and very relaxing game

  7. Go to WalMart and pay $75 bucks for a set, bag, putter, tees, putter. Slow back swing and see your self smothley hit the ball and swing thru. Do not look at where the ball goes until your swing is over. Have fun.

  8. if you are just starting, id say that you should buy a starter set of clubs that's comes with all of the irons, driver, and woods, you could probably get a set for about $100-$300 depending on how much you wanna spend. the trick is to get lessons, and just keep playing, the more you play the better you'll get, even though it may take a while to get good.
