Question:

Taking up rugby again?

I used to play rugby a while back and was a right wing mainly because i was quick and agile but not very big. I'm pretty sure i want to get back into playing but wondered what position i should try playing?

I can run 100m in 12.6 seconds which i would say is a pretty quick time. I'm 6'0 ft tall weigh 11 and a half stone and have always been pretty fearless in the tackle (especially playing a few games at fullback for my school).

The only thing i don't know is what my passing game is like these days.

  1. Bro..i think Centre (outside centre) would suit you very well. As a utility player myself, i find that when i play centre i do alot of tackling and i hardly pass coz basically u have to punch up the line. Remember though you also have to offload passes during tackles if your arms are free so you have to have upper body strength too. Someone mentioned you playing flanker but no offense you are too light. You have to be heavy so in a scrum your team will have the added advantage but this shouldn't stop you though if you want to play in the forwards. Take Stephen Hoiles (Australia No#8) although he is lighter than most flankers/No#8 he is very mobile...Good Luck to you though.

  2. well you have good hight and some weight behind you...if you worked on your passing you might want to try for fly half, even though that wouldnt show off your speed that much, so it seems the wing is a good spot for you.

  3. First off that weird your 16 and done high school already, here in canada we dont finish until were 18.

It seems as though you have great height and weight to you so you really could play centre, winger or  fly half

What is ur best skill set though

if u want to showcase and make use of ur great speed and tackle breaking skills be a WINGER

if u want to make use of ur size and tackling ability be a CENTRE

and if u have both of all the FLY HALF

from what you are telling me you could play any three of these, its up to you and the coach of what is needed to amke the team better.

but for whats the most fun to play i would say FLANKER or CENTER.

  4. Ok not sure what wat 11 and a half stones is in kilograms or pounds but i would say try out for centre. if your quite big then go for inside centre but if your smaller go for outside centre as they are faster and more agile. centres are also normally in the thick of the action and need to be good tacklers.
