Question:

Taking waves?

I just started surfing last year and the waves during the summer were only 2-4 feet. but when winter came the waves spiked up to 6-8 foot. I know waves are always bigger during the winter, but I hesitate every time I paddle into these bigger waves. Im afraid ill get hurled over the lip. Does anyone have any advise that could make it easier to catch these waves without hesitation? Its holding me back from advancing in surfing.

  1. the more you face these conditions you wil be more at ease.

    Be careful out there!

  2. well first, wear a leash so you don't loose your board if you fall off.

are you afraid of paddling out and not being able to get over the breaking waves to the lineup or about not being able to drop in? cause you'll probably need to duck dive under the breaking waves when paddling out.

  3. grow a pair and you'll be fine

  4. stop being a wimp and just take them like i always do

  5. I'm not sure how your wave s break but surfing on the inside first is usually an option. That or try taking off farther on the shoulder. You'll have to paddle harder and you'll be in poor position compared to other surfers but it shouldn't be as steep.

Just think that its a only a little bigger than what you've been surfing and you haven't died yet. So what's the worse that could happen?

  6. if you feel like you're going to die on the wave, then be mentally ready to kill yourself rather than sit in the lineup doing nothing.
