Takuma Euda determined to register his mark in Thomas Cup Finals – Badminton Update
Men’s Singles campaigner Takuma Euda of Japan has made his cut into national squad of Thomas Cup Finals and he is in high spirit to relish this opportunity.
The esteemed team event will be in full swing from May 20 in Wuhan, China and the Japanese shuttlers will be facing world class players from Malaysia, Indonesia, Korea, China and Denmark.
Men’s Singles squad of Japan comprises top shuttlers like Sho Sasaki and Kenichi Tago while World Number 48 player Takuma has clinched the seat of third Singles player.
Takuma was preferred over higher ranked Kazushi Yamada and he is positive to prove this decision right by lifting up the burden of expectations.
He said, “The pressure on me will be great if my team is levelled at 2-2 but I have enough motivation to handle the situation. I want to help my team win a medal again.”
The 23-year-old shuttler registered his presence in Malaysia Open GP Gold last week where he made it into top eight shuttlers of the event.
Takuma put up great resilience against Indonesian challenger Sony Dwi Kuncoro in quarter-final round and walked tall despite losing the epic three-set tussle with final results of 16-21, 24-22, 15-21.
Though he looked sad on that defeat but he vowed to use this experience as a motivational force to hit the mark in Thomas Cup Finals.
Takuma said, “I am disappointed with my defeat to Sony here but it has whet my appetite to give better performances at the Finals.”
The Unisys club shuttler will be up against relatively experienced shuttlers like Hafiz Hashim, Sony Dwi Kuncoro, Tommy Sugiarto, Hans Kristian Vittinghus and the Chinese danger man Chen Jin.
However, young Takuma is confident to escort his country to glory in coming edition of the prestigious team event.
In previous edition, staged in Kuala Lumpur, Japan stood at third position and this time its shuttlers are eager to exhibit their elevated craft.
The Men’s Doubles event will see prime Japanese teams Naoki Kawamae-Shoji Sato, Hiroyuki Endo-Kenichi Hayakawa and Hirokatsu Hashimoto-Noriyasu Hirata striving hard to raise country’s flag in the tournament.
