Takuma Ueda confounds Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka in Men’s Singles semi-finals – Vietnam Open Update

Japan’s spirited shuttler Takuma Ueda played impeccable badminton and stunned Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka in the semi-final round of Yonex Sunrise Vietnam Open GP on August 25, 2012.
The lower ranked but talented Takuma took just 40 minutes to register an overwhelming margin of 21-17 and 21-16.
This straight-set win took him to the grand finale where he is scheduled to meet top seeded local shuttler Tien Minh Nguyen.
World Number 35 shuttler Takuma, who is placed at the sixth spot in tournament rankings, has alarmed the native shuttler by putting a commendable show of skill in the round of four.
Though, he was up against second seeded Indonesian campaigner but still he did not show any sign of bewilderment and locked the honour in a splendid manner.
Dionysius Rumbaka, who was one of the frontrunners in this tournament, could not read his rival’s game and faced a shameful exit.
The first set heated up when the Japanese player made a swift progress with a couple of uninterrupted points.
Takuma established a comfortable lead and then maintained the upper hand all the way to mid-game break.
In the second half, he made some mistakes which weakened his grip over game but then few productive rallies helped him to regain his status in third quarter of the set.
He managed to go with the same flow and cruised to victory with scoreboard flashing 21-17 margin in his favour.
The second set was also played in same manner as Takuma prevailed in a few nonstop rallies in the beginning and then lost his grip in the middle before sweeping the table with a convincing figure.
In first half, he relished full benefits of the first set win and kept his higher ranked opponent under his influence. He dominated the overall pace of the game and placed a respectable total of 11 before interval.
After the interval, the Indonesian campaigner showed some spark and dazzled his challenger with a blistering performance.
However, this short campaign could not make any significant impact as the Japanese shuttler Takuma Ueda bounced back with a strong reply and seized the glory with a staggering knock of 21-16.
