Takuma Ueda secured comprehensive win in second round of US Open GPG 2013 – Badminton News
Japan’s upcoming badminton player, Takuma Ueda, stayed on track and won the Men’s Singles second round quite convincingly against his local challenger, Howard Shu, at the Yonex OCBC US Open GPG 2013, on Tuesday, July 9, in USA.
The aggressive Takuma, who has been positioned at number five in Men’s Singles seeding in this tournament, showed his elevated craft and sent his rival packing in a dominating manner while consuming just 33 minutes.
Japanese shuttler aggressive and positive on court from the starting points and he maintained a good rhythm all the way. He dictated the pace throughout the battle and won it in straight sets with an inspiring margin of 21-9 and 21-14.
On the other hand, the un-seeded Howard played quivering game as could not find a good flow at any stage. Though he played better badminton in the second game but it was not enough to avoid a straight-set defeat from the hands of his Japanese rival.
Takuma was in wonderful form from the starting points and he did not take much time in setting up a comfortable gap on the score board.
Meanwhile, the lower ranked Howard tried to match the pace of rallies but he could not anticipate the incredible variations of his opponent and remained behind until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the fifth seeded Takuma did not slow down his speed and also kept the pace rallies high. He kept his rival moving by executing a variety of shots in all areas of the court. The positive play and aggressive approach of Takuma earned him the first game with a wonderful margin of 21-9.
The second set was interesting when Howard also elevated his play and stayed slightly behind his in-form Japanese rival. He was quick in the starting rallies but gradually slowed down that enabled his opponent to set up a reasonable lead until the break.
After the interval, Takuma remained on the right track without showing any mercy to his rival. He managed to end up the second game with a comfortable margin of 21-14 and won the match in a staggering fashion.
