Takuma Ueda trounces Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka in Men’s Singles showdown at Thomas Cup Finals
Japan’s upcoming player Takuma Ueda showed his elevated skills while playing to his maximum potential and trounced Indonesia’s Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka at the Thomas Cup Finals 2012 on Wednesday, May 23, in China.
The World Number 38 Ueda, who has improved a lot in all aspects of the game, displayed staggering show and overpowered his higher ranked opponent Rumbaka who is currently ranked at number 22 in Men’s Singles world rankings.
The lower ranked Japanese played with wonderful confidence as he did not let his higher ranked Indonesian rival to take charge of the game and ended up the contest in two sets by taking 52 minutes in the court.
In the meanwhile, the higher ranked Rumbaka failed to live up to expectations as he could not play his normal game and lost the match without creating trouble for his lower ranked opponent.
In the first game, Ueda controlled the pace of rallies from the opening points and maintained his upper hand while remaining quick in all areas of the court.
On the other hand, Rumbaka failed to take advantage at any stage in the game and remained behind on the score board until the one-minute break.
After the mid-game interval, the lower ranked Japanese continued putting up wonderful show and remained in full control of rallies.
He did not drop his speed at any stage and won the set with a one-sided 21-14 score on the board.
In the second set, Rumbaka played better badminton as he changed his playing strategy and worked well in all areas of the court.
Until the one-minute break, Rumbaka was leading on the score board by reaching at 11-8.
After the break, Ueda played with aggression and managed to bridge the gap by reaching at 11-11.
Both shuttlers continued playing with variations and moved each other in all areas of the court until the score reached at the ending points when Ueda showed his class and bagged the game with a 21-19 score on the board.
The underdog Ueda emerged as the winner in a sensational manner with a wonderful margin of 21-14 and 21-19.
