Takuro Fujii claims Men’s 100m IM title in Tokyo: 2011 FINA World Cup Series
Japan’s young gun, Takuro Fujii outshined in Tokyo’s arena during the final round of the 2011 FINA World Cup Series in Japan, on Saturday, November 12.  Fujii clinched Men’s 100m Individual Medley title.
Olympic medallist, Takuro Fujii was up against the strongest rivals of competitive swimming arena including South Africa’s Chad Le Clos and Japan’s Masafumi Yamaguchi in the final heat, as Fujii began the race in scintillating fashion and left behind his
competitors by knocking the finishing barrier in an inspiring time of 52.78 seconds to take the Men’s 100m Individual Medley crown.
Fujii was also victorious during the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, where he claimed bronze medal in the 4x100m Individual Medley.
After the race, Chad Le Clos earned silver medal in a time of 53.33 seconds and Yamaguchi pocketed bronze title in a mark of 53.55 seconds, respectively. Le Clos won five gold medals at the 2011 All African Games, in Maputo. In addition, he was the double
Commonwealth gold medallist during the 2010 Commonwealth Games, in Delhi.
The fourth spot was captured by Yuma Kosaka of Japan in a time of 54.01 seconds. Moreover, Takuto Ueki of Japan performed very well in the respective race and settled at fifth place in a time of 54.24 seconds. In the meantime, Kazuki Nagura of Japan produced
a wonderful splash against his rivals through his versatile turns in the pool and smacked the finishing cordon in an impressive mark of 54.26 seconds to settle at sixth position.
On the other hand, Ikumi Hasegawa of Japan was placed in the top-eight by claiming the finishing wall in a time of 55.27 seconds to settle for seventh position. Last, but not the least, Omar Pinzon of Colombia was disqualified from the race. Due to versatile
swim of Takuro Fujii, he was awarded gold title after the close of the session.
The 2011 FINA World Cup Series is offering a wonderful opportunity to all young guns of Japan, China, Australia, Sweden and Colombia to prepare themselves hard for their futuristic meets in swimming.
