Takuya Kotaka ousts Sung Joon Cho in Men’s Singles first round of Korea Grand Prix Gold 2012
Japan’s Takuya Kotaka found a wonderful start as he put up spectacular show of top class badminton and remained successful in beating the local shuttler Sung Joo Cho in Men’s Singles first round at Korea Grand Prix Gold 2012 on Tuesday, December 4, in Korea.
The in-form Japanese shuttler did not show any sign of confusion while playing against the local shuttler as he was impressively confident in executing powerful shots and managed to win the match in just 22 minutes.
Japanese player was in tremendous form as he did not spare any chance to build pressure on his Korean opponent and remained successful in proving his supremacy in the arena and emerged as the winner in straight games.
In contrast, Sung Joon could not live up to expectations of his home fans as he played poor badminton executing many negative shots. He failed to push his rival on back foot at any stage and eventually crashed out in opening round without even getting close
on the board.
Kotaka played with terrific control in his shots and managed to occupy the pace of rallies from opening rallies of the first set.
The tempo of the rallies was very fast in opening set and Kotaka entertained local fans with his incredible skills.
It was Kotaka who did not show any respect to his passionate Korean opponent in the first part and took a spectacular lead in the arena.
The impressive Japanese shuttler remained comfortable in the arena after the mid-game interval as he played with the same speed.
Kotaka continued executing powerful strokes in targeted areas and took the opening game with a stunning total of 21-8.
Things were not much different in the second set of this entertaining fight as Kotaka played in the similar dominating fashion.
Kotaka was impressively fast on court and he did not face any problem in building a staggering difference until the one-minute break.
Sung Joon could not show resistance in the second game of this match as his challenger Kotaka played aggressive badminton and secured the game with a sound 21-14 margin on the board.
Japanese player remained successful in making a good start in the tournament as he won the first round in a dominating manner with a superb margin of 21-8 and 21-14.
