Question:

Talent Agency Interview?

I'm on the hunt to find the right talent agency for me. I'm not thinking of sending in photos and a resume and see if they call or not. I'd like to set up a face to face interview, so I'll be able to ask questions and be able to better know the agency and see if the people and the clients would be right for me. But I just really need help on how. How do I call and set up an interview correctly? Don't give unreasonable answers like call and ask for interview. Please help!

  1. Actually calling and asking for an interview is how you do it. Tell them some information about yourself (age, name ect..) and ask questions and ask if you can have an interview with them.

  2. Do NOT call the agency.  They will toss your headshot in the garbage.  The appropriate way to pursue representations is as follows:

    1.  Go online and research every legitimate agency in your area.  Remember you should never pay any money for representation.  The agent gets paid when you book a paid gig.

    2.  On the agency website they will always have instructions on how to submit.  Some allow you to submit via email and others do exclusive mail submissions.  Some agencies will say "Only industry referrals" meaning you've gotta know someone to submit with them.  Others will say "not accepting new talent at this time."  Some agencies do open calls and will have those dates listed on their website.

    3.  Put together a mailing to all of the agencies you're going to submit to.  Include your headshot/resume and a BRIEF coverletter.

    4.  If they are interested and are looking for an actor of your "type" they will call/email you.  Sometimes they may not need a you now, but will keep your stuff and call in a few months.  It's a process.  Only then will you get a chance to do an interview.

    5.  Don't give up.  If you don't receive any calls, don't take it personally.  It's a tough business.  Most agents say you can re-submit whenever you add new credits to your resume, get new headshots, or after three months.

    Break a leg!

  3. You never call a talent agency except to get how to info.  You go to their web site and see how they want you to submit and you do it that way.  If they are interested in you, they will call you for an interview. Let it go at that. Read Acting as a Business by O'Neil to find out the details on getting an agent.

  4. On google search Talent agencies in ________*where u live*

Email/call the people and talk to them about having a face to face interview, or you can try out for america's got talent, a reality tv show, that allows you to be famous and win the prize of a million dollars.

  5. They will most likely not grant you an interview.  They are VERY busy all day.  If they don't call you in from your headshot and resume they are not interested.
