Former Australian fast bowler Geoff Lawson praised novice Indian pacer Umesh Yadav for his startling performance on Day one of the Boxing Day Test, saying that the youngster is very promising and only needs a bit of experience to become one of world’s leading
fast bowlers.
Yadav was the star performer for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377 in the first two sessions of the day at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
"He's a very side-on, old-fashioned fast bowler. That's why he bowls fast and bowls out-swingers," said Lawson while talking to the media reporters at the end of the day on Monday.
"He's only a young guy. A good, strong guy. So he's quite promising. He just needs to get a bit more experience behind him," he added further.
Lawson compared Yadav to the rookie South African pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 last month claiming 8 Australian wickets and removed 10 Sri Lankan batsman in the first Test of the ongoing three-match series earlier this
month.
"He reminds me of Vernon Philander only that he bowls quicker than Vernon. But they both get the seam up and bowl out-swingers and Yadav's doing it at 145, 148 (km/http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hugh-Morris-c63550) sometimes. So if you can do that then you are going to get a lot of good players out,"
said the former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 coach.

The 54-year-old Lawson was critical of Indian field placements on the day and reckoned that the 24-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils’ pacer could have claimed more wickets on the day, had there been a proper field in place.
He advised the Indian skipper to give Yadav more cover behind the wickets and on the off side, if he is to get the best out of the youngster.
A double strike from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 and Mike Hussey on successive reverse-swinging deliveries turned the day India's way.
At the close of the day Australia were 277 for 6 with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PM-Siddle-c2197 not out on 34.
