Tales Of Grimm and Wrotham Heath in close contention for the Tercentenary Stakes at Ascot
The Group 3 Tercentenary Stakes has attracted eleven three-year-old runners who will contest for the £39,679 prize money on Thursday, 21st June at the Ascot over a mile and two furlongs.
Shining in the limelight is Tales Of Grimm, Distorted Humor’s three-year-old bay colt out of mare, Stupendous Miss. He took his first flight of the career on 12th August, 2011 in the Don Deadman Memorial European Breeders’ Fund Maiden Stakes (Division
I) at Newbury over seven furlongs.
Tales Of Grimm went away with the maiden on the first chance and led the 11/10 favourite of the race, Firdaws, by a slight head’s difference. Filling up the third slot behind the winner was The Nile.
His first listed race in the Betfair Heron Stakes on 31st May at Sandown over a mile got him the third position behind the winner, Cogito, who led the runner up, Stipulate, by a slight neck’s margin.
Getting a chance in a group 3 race right after a place in a listed race is an accomplishment in itself and indicates the level of the confidence that the connections have in the colt.
Another promising entry for the race is Wrotham Heath, Dansili’s three-year-old bay colt out of mare, Native Justice. He has been active thrice during the season, scored second, finished sixth and then finally bagged a race.
His seasonal debut was in the Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup Conditions Stakes on 20th April at Newbury over a mile and two furlongs. He ended as the 10/11 favourite runner up of the race that was won by Ektihaam who led by five lengths.
Catching up with the third position was Halling’s Quest.
He met a miserable sixth ranking in the Poptelecom.Co.UK Cheap International Calls Handicap on 19th May at Newmarket over a mile and four furlongs. It did not take him long to bounce back into form as he claimed the very next race.
He dictated the terms of the Diamond Jubilee Handicap on 2nd June at Epsom over a mile and two furlongs. Finishing the closest was the 7/2 favourite of the race, Grandeur.
Wrotham Heath will be racing at the similar distance today and will be guided through by Tom Queally. How far will the 9/2 odds take him today will unfold soon.
