Talia Al Ghul and Solomon Grundy confirmed in Batman: Arkham City, Bane also included
Two more names have been added to the list of worries for Batman, as Rocksteady, the game’s developers, revealed two more villains who are set to feature in the caped crusader’s latest outing on next generation consoles.
Batman already has a host of formidable foes to go up against in Batman: Arkham City, with the likes of the Joker, Harvey ‘Two-Face’ Dent, Harley Quinn, Hugo Strange, the Penguin, the Riddler among others. Now it seems Bane, Talia Al Ghul and Solomon Grundy
are joining the party as well.
The news came after Bane was revealed in the Batman: Arkham City comic, which was released on the internet prior to Comic-Con 2011, which showed the monster of a man running out of titan, before revealing he had a warehouse stocked with venom.
Bane is one of the characters returning from Arkham Asylum, along with the Joker and Harley Quinn, however, some of the new additions are rather intriguing as well.
Talia Al Ghul is the daughter of Ra’s Al Ghul, who made a rather mysterious ‘disappearance’ in Arkham Asylum. The word ‘disappearance’ is used because the character’s grave in the Arkham Asylum was dug up, and the coffin empty.
Talia Al Ghul has become the third female character in the character, joining the aforementioned Harley Quinn and Catwoman, who seems to be using Batman as a means to an, as yet unknown, end.
The character is set to be voiced by Stana Katic (from the TV series Castle), who earlier on in the year tweeted about her involvement in a video game project. No one actually knew it would turn out to be a Batman game.
Another character making his way into Arkham City, and the nightmares on Batman, is Solomon Grundy. Not his real name, Solomon Grundy adopted the title when he was reanimated (yes, Grundy is a zombie) and he heard that Solomon Grundy was ‘born on a Monday’,
which was the day he came back to life.
The character has a healing ability, meaning that no matter how much damage he takes, he will always return; much like the Undertaker in the WWE, but much, much more terrifying. Grundy is also known for making an appearance in a number of DC characters’
storylines, as he has appeared in both Superman and the Green Lantern’s storylines.
It seems that Batman: Arkham City is set to have a deep, rich cast, yet one has to start feeling a little worried for Batman. The caped crusader only has a cat and little bird (pronounced Robin) to help him out against increasingly insurmountable odds, with
the latter not even featuring in the single player campaign.
