Taliban kill 10 French troops?

Yesterday headlines....Taliban kill 10 elite French troops. In a separate attack, they unsuccessfully stormed a US base but failed.

Four Questions:

1. Isn't "french soldier" an oxymoron?

2. Don't the Taliban respect the white flag of surrender? Apparently not.

3. Why didn't the french call the Americans (again) for help? Radios jammed?

4. Why didn't the french call in air support? Were french pilots busy getting manicures?

  1. while the French nation tends to surrender readily and early, the French troops are very well trained and professional.

actually similar to our army, if we'd leave them alone and let them do their job without double guessing it, we'd see results better and faster.

  2. the taliban respects nothing. they are a group from the stoneage with no respect for life. that is why they all need to be put in a box.

  3. You stupid fool, stop badmouthing the French will ya?? You are SO stupid

  4. Don't badmouth the French military just because you don't agree with their government. Believe it or not, the French are amazing soldiers and are a force to be reckoned with. I am an American Airman and these are my brothers in arms. Have some respect and educate yourself.

  5. Liberty,  Equality,  Fratenity.  I  don't  hear the  taliban  and  Al-queida  complaining.  I  know  what  they're  against,  i  just  don't  understand  what  the  allies  are  fighting   for?  More  cameras,  higher  taxes,  pensioners  freezing  and  starving,  high  food  and  petrol  prices,  etc. The  government  dare  not give  me  a  gun  and  tell  me  to  kill  the  enemy,  they  might  be  surpised  who  i'm  going for.

  6. According to a Le Monde newsitem I just read,

    1) they called for help, but nobody came for 4 hours,

    2) they did call for air support, but the airstrikes at least partially hit them instead of their opponents,

    3) they ran out of munition for the big weapons, and it was rifle-against-rifle work,

    4) they were also coming under fire from Afghan government soldiers who were supposed to help them.

All in all, remarkable that there were not more casualties, and I can only explain that by assuming these soldiers were good in their jobs. Everyone else - from the Afghans to the NATO command structures - seem to have performed very poorly in this incident.

But you, Mr. Opinion101, sitting in your mummy's flat in Little Pumpkinville, Iowa, of course know much better what happened due to your marvellous insight which stems from being already three weeks older than 14. Happy belated birthday!

  7. OMG

  8. 1. Oi, this ain't the time to be dissing the French.  They're actually a pretty strong people.

    2. What'd you expect?  They're generally dirty fighters.

    3. The French soldiers are strong.  It would have been someone else that got caught in a surprise attack.

    4. It was a surprise attack, communication takes time.

But I hope the people who killed the French soldiers are/were taken care of.

  9. I do not find it amusing to mock the death of soldiers killed in Afganistan. You may find it amusing butI guess that few here do whether they be American, British,Canadian or French. the loss of any soldier while on active duty is sad and not to be made fun of by some little t**t
