  1. The point? This is the rail category. If you don't see the point, then you cannot appreciate the beauty of reciprocating motion and the engineering abilities it represents.

    A steam engine is a living, breathing entity.  So, you have to treat it right to get it to do work for you, as with any entity.

    I believe these were filmed in Germany to commerate some sort of rail historical mile post (Mile post. Get it? It's the rail category.).

  3. Great stuff. Took a look at the British stuff over Shap Fell too.  

    (probably not as steep or long as the Donner Pass, Hoghead, but possibly the best known in England.)

    Take a look at this for articulated narrow gauge steam locos.  Film was made in 1953 and is right in my old stamping ground.  Caution - it's 17 minutes long.
