Since I am half Italian, Italy has a special place in my heart.  I was stationed in Gaeta, Italy for 2 years when I was in the navy, and I've probably been to every major city in Italy, from Milan in the north to Bari in the south.  Gaeta is locate on the west coast about half way between Rome and Naples.

Italy is a very diverse and beautiful country.  You can take narrow roads in the Italian alps with hairpin turns that will make your heart leap in your chest, or you can take a boat ride from Naples to the Isle of Capri and the blue grotto...it's quite pretty.

And what would a trip to Italy be without Italian food?  The food and the wine are not to be missed, and if you go to Florence, you simply must try the ice cream.  The only disappointment was Rome.  While it was fascinating to see all that old architecture, it was dismaying to see how dirty the city was...at least when I was there.

All in all though, Italy is a country that I would strongly recommend to anyone.  Arrivederci!!
