Talkin Thomas eying a comeback in Magner Golden Draught Handicap Hurdle
Talkin Thomas will be looking to bounce back in form by claiming the Magner Golden Draught Handicap Hurdle (Jockey Club Grassroots Jumps Series Qualifier) at Market Rasen in England on Thursday, December 6, 2012.
Although, he lacks experience at this level, yet he possesses the skills to cause some problems for his rivals. It will not be a good idea to rule him out of contention in the class-4 encounter, scheduled to kick off at 14:50 GMT.
He started off the 2012 season on a positive note, but failed to keep the momentum going. The young runner has got a very good chance of breaking the shackles today.
Things will not be easy for him though, as there are 10 other decent runners lined up for action in the 2 mile, 3 furlong contest. They have all been trained well by their respective teams and will be looking forward to fighting for a cash prize of £2,534.
Luckily, the weather conditions are getting better with the passage of time and all of the participants will get an opportunity to go out with an aggressive approach. The going has been described as good to soft and if the sun stays out, things could change
a lot before the action kicks off.
War Poet has managed to get the attention of the bookmakers, despite the fact that he has been in terrible form over the past few months.
The five-year-old gelding appeared to be in pretty decent shape at the start of the season, but his form has dipped since then. He has never managed to succeed while hurdling and it will be a big challenge for him to break the shackles at Market Rasen.
Although, he has been given the highest odds for a victory, the punters will not be gambling a lot of bets in his favour.
Compared to him, Talkin Thomas has been in much better shape, as his performances have not gone completely bad. He has managed to win one race in this format and will be eying another one today.
The Nicky Richards’ trainee will be accompanied by jockey, Brian Harding, who partnered him last time around as well.
